WORK VISAS
The subclass 489 is no longer open under the Invited Pathway Stream. However, you may be eligible for this visa if you hold certain regional visas. This visa has two streams. The first stream is for people who have held a specified temporary regional skilled visa for two years (Extended Stay Stream). The second stream is for family members of people holding a specified temporary regional skilled visa (Subsequent Entry Stream). This visa is the first step and counterpart of the permanent subclass 887 visa.
The subclass 187 is no longer open under the Direct Entry Stream. However, you may be eligible for this visa if you worked for a regional employer for 3 years under a subclass 457 or 482. The same employer must be willing to sponsor you for permanent residence.
The subclass 491 is a temporary regional points-based visa for skilled workers who are nominated by a state or territory government or sponsored by an eligible relative. You must nominate an eligible occupation and secure a State Nomination or Sponsorship from an eligible relative to be invited to apply for this visa. This visa is the first step towards the permanent subclass 191 visa.
The subclass 494 is a temporary regional employer-sponsored visa for skilled workers with at least 3 years of relevant work experience. This visa requires you to be nominated to work in a regional area. You must also have a positive skills assessment at the time you apply for this visa (there are some exceptions). This visa is the first step towards the permanent subclass 191 visa
The subclass 870 is a temporary visa for parents of Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or eligible New Zealand citizens. You must have an approved Parent Sponsor before applying for this visa. You may be in or outside Australia at the time of application and time of visa grant. You do not need to satisfy the balance of family test or have an assurance of support for this visa. You must also demonstrate a genuine intention to stay in Australia temporarily.
